On March 16, 2026, the Royal Horizon Ponta Sino had the honor of welcoming the President of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves, who came to discover the 5-star resort in Santa Maria, on the island of Sal, for the first time. Accompanied by the hotel’s general management and department heads, the head of state toured the establishment, visited several of our restaurants and facilities, and discussed the vision that has driven the hotel since its creation. A day marked by recognition and dialogue.

A first visit from the President of Cape Verde within our walls

Less than a year after its inauguration, the hotel welcomed the country’s highest authority for a visit that took place in an excellent atmosphere. President José Maria Neves, Cape Verde’s head of state since 2021, discovered the resort as a whole: the living spaces, several of our restaurants — from the large international buffet to the à la carte venues — as well as the facilities that shape our guests’ daily experience.
Throughout the visit, the President was highly impressed by the establishment, its concept, and the distinctive approaches that set it apart in the archipelago’s hotel landscape.

Jean-Marie Gras's vision at the heart of the discussions

The meeting was also an opportunity to share the hotel’s unique story with the head of state. The Royal Horizon Ponta Sino, named the Beijo Mansão, was born from the vision of its founder, Jean-Marie Gras, who passed away before the establishment opened, and whose philosophy continues to be carried forward every day by the teams and the family who brought his project to fruition.

It is this same standard of excellence — 5-star hospitality open to a wide range of travelers, rooted in the life of the island — that had already marked the hotel’s inauguration in June 2025 in the presence of Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva.

A committed player in Sal's economy

The discussions with the President naturally focused on the hotel’s impact on the local economy: its contribution to the country’s gross domestic product and the creation of jobs for the population, with more than 300 direct jobs and over a hundred indirect jobs on the island of Sal.

In an archipelago where tourism is an essential driver of growth — as the national press highlighted at the opening — the Royal Horizon Beijo Mansão Ponta Sino intends to play its role to the full: offering quality hospitality while creating value for Sal and its people.
